Gaelic Song

Having studied Gaelic singing for a year on the Isle of Skye with Lewis-born singer Christine Primrose, Kyle is available for workshops in traditional Gaelic song. Workshops typically run for one to two hours, and will include printed lyrics of songs, as well as recordings for students to study from post-course. The history of Gaelic song, as well as the social relevance of each will also be explored and explained time permitting.

Songwriting

Having grown up in a literary household, Kyle began writing original songs in English at the age of fifteen, and can offer songwriting and creative expression workshops. Kyle graduated from Skidmore College in 2008 with a degree in English literature, the study of which has helped to inform the literary qualities of her own well-regarded songwriting. For a songwriting workshop, Kyle’s goal is to critique and aid students with their own compositions, with the intention of a completed song by workshop or course end.

Gaelic Language

After studying Scottish Gaelic in Gaelic singing in Cape Breton Nova Scotia on a Fulbright Fellowship, Kyle traveled to the Isle of Skye in Scotland where she studied the Gaelic language intensively in a full-immersion for a year. Following her course, she worked at the Gaelic college on Skye with an Gaelic-language marketing team—further honing her fluency. In her Gaelic language workshops, Kyle will introduce students to the basics of the language, including all three tenses, as well as common conversational phrases. Each workshop includes written notes and recordings.

Touring Overseas

To date, Kyle has completed six overseas tours, and is available to offer workshops in European profile building, as well as travel and performance tips. Each workshop will cover such subjects as travel expenses, budgeting, visas and overseas promotion. Touring overseas is proving to be a more viable option for American artist’s than ever, and mainland Europe in particular has a keen interest and appetite in American music. In this workshop Kyle will share some of her personal experiences of touring through Europe, as well as invaluable advice.
